Ronnie Leigh

Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, 1905 Kentucky Ave, Winter Park

Ronnie Leigh pays tribute to Al Jarreau and Lou Rawls, including selections of Miles, Monk and The Great American Songbook.

"After 40 years in the music biz, working with everyone from Smokey to Aretha to Ray Charles, and after 30 years of watching this guy, all I can tell you is that he’s one of the finest song stylists working in jazz today. But it doesn't stop there. He's also one of the finest Soul and R & B stylists I've ever heard and an amazing entertainer. The guy's the complete package. And it's not even remotely hype to mention him in the same sentence with the great Lou Rawls and the amazing Donny Hathaway."

~ Frank Malfitano, founder, Syracuse Jazz Fest

Sanford Jazz Ensemble

Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, 1905 Kentucky Ave, Winter Park

The Sanford Jazz Ensemble began as the “Altamonte Jazz Ensemble” which for decades, under the direction of Mike Arena, brought the gift of jazz to the Central Florida community.

After Mike’s passing in 2010, the band moved to historic downtown Sanford. Now under the direction of Dave Weaver, the Sanford Jazz Ensemble has expanded its repertoire beyond traditional big band jazz to include original arrangements of classic and contemporary pop, R&B and funk tunes.

The SJE is made up solely of community musicians who donate their time and talent to perform live jazz for Central Florida audiences. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the band relies on those who enjoy the music and donate to keep the SJE “swinging.”
