Carol Welsman

Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, 1905 Kentucky Ave, Winter Park

Carol Welsman is an internationally acclaimed singer and pianist whose expressive vocal styling and dynamic stage presence have captivated audiences around the world. She has sold over 60,000 CDs in Canada alone, something few jazz artists in Canada have experienced.

See Carol in action once and you'll never forget her. Tall and blonde, she sits poised at the piano, head back, fingers stretched over the keys, her slender body arched in a seductive curve. Then the music flows, a combination of voice and piano that seems symbiotically linked. Like bossa nova icon Joao Gilberto and his guitar, Carol's honey and whiskey sound and her crisp, rhythmically articulate piano lines seem an integral part of each other. At a time when female jazz singers have been arriving in waves, she is that rarity -- an authentic vocal/instrumental artist who brings an irresistible blend of musicality and lyrical insight to everything she touches.

Carol's focus upon the essential elements of her art is not surprising. Coming from a musical family (her grandfather was the founder and first conductor of the Toronto Symphony), she has studied in the U.S. (at Berklee College of Music) and Europe, and released eight albums since her first CD, "Lucky To Be Me," in 1995. Her numerous achievements include the receipt of six Juno (Canadian Grammy) Award nominations including the just announced “Jazz Album of the Year” for "Journey, and several CDN Smooth Jazz Awards. She has become well-established as an international artist, touring the world, and performing in Italian, French, Portuguese and English.

Carol is an extraordinarily talented musician and one of Canada's finest vocalists and pianists.

Kat Riggins

Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, 1905 Kentucky Ave, Winter Park

Kat's own musical style is a blend of the blues with hip hop, pop, rock, gospel and even country music. "It's all related anyway", she exclaims. She is inspired by young artists such as Janelle Monae, Karreim Riggins, SyncOpera and ZZ Ward and Andra Day who share in her passion to revive music from the vinyl days. "It's about the raw emotion in every note", Kat says. " If I can move someone to feel what I feel when I sing a song, then it's all worth it". With her own band, Blues Revival, she travels the world with the intent to "wake up the blues one song at a time"!

With her first two works, an EP called "Seoul Music" and an original album called "Lily Rose" Kat penned each song with subtle hints of her love of the blues. Her latest album, aptly named after her band "Blues Revival" is a loud and proud declaration of that love! "Blues Revival" is a clever mashup of gospel-blues, blues-rock, funky blues, contemporary and traditional blues, with BLUES being the operative word! With this and albums to come, Kat Riggins's focus is to be a part of this musical revolution that aims to awaken the masses and introduce them to the sincerity behind blues music.

The Conglomerate comprises musicians and producers who have created and contributed to works by LaRue Howard, Hananeel, Jazmin Ghent; performed with Tye Tribbett, Haley Reinhart (American Idol), The American Gospel Choir, Sisaundra Lewis (The Voice) and Disney ensembles.

Roy Schneider & Kim Mayfield - Reckless Saints

Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, 1905 Kentucky Ave, Winter Park

Schneider & Mayfield are excited to release their long-anticipated first official Duo album, Reckless Saints.

Troubadour and formerly syndicated cartoonist Roy Schneider has developed a devoted fan base for his particular flavor of Americana music since 2008, through international radio airplay and consistent touring with life-and-stage partner Kim Mayfield.

Playfully dubbed “Blue-Twangled Folk ‘n’ Roll” in a 2014 No Depression interview, Schneider & Mayfield have brought their musical blend of the gritty, fun, soulful and sweet to delighted audiences across the USA and abroad, exploring and expanding their musical horizons with every performance.

From ballads and dirges to grooves and hollerin’ rockers, from intimate concerts and clubs to festival stages, this multitalented duo clocks up thousands of miles annually from their home base in Fort Myers, Florida, toting an ever-evolving array of instruments wherever they are needed. With Schneider on guitar (or dobro, mandolin or banjo), harmonica, kick drum and vocals, Mayfield on mandolin (or guitar, ukulele or percussion) and vocals, their sound does not suffer for lack of bandmates.

Schneider’s early and current works can be heard on Pandora, Spotify, iTunes/Apple Music, etc. in addition to public and college radio stations everywhere.
