AMP Trio Presents: Three Self-Released as an audio CD (March 17 street date)

AMP Trio is proud to present Three, their third full-length record of original compositions. Returning to their trio roots in their new territory of New York City, pianist Addison Frei, drummer Matt Young and bassist Perrin Grace met with engineer Michael Brorby in Brooklyn to capture some of each members newest works.

“The making of Three was like coming back home after a long trip. The table was set with new compositions and we dug in, tracking the whole record in a day. The end result of our long-time brotherhood is portrayed in Three, what I think is our most visceral and honest recording to date.” -Matt

Now in it’s fifth year as a band, AMP Trio agreed to good old fashioned trio recording. With almost two albums worth of new music to record they made their cuts and gave the track list a once-over for a packed house at NYC’s Club Bonafide.

“This trio has developed a lot of trust from spending time together as well as communicating daily when we’re on our own. I thought it might be time to set up an ideal situation to capture us expressing that trust.
I think what made it so ideal was that we used great instruments, we were free from the pressure of video cameras and had the right atmosphere to keep us relaxed and focused on the heart of the music.” -Perrin

They later got together with mixing and mastering wizard Joseph Branciforte to bring their highest quality recording to life. Look to these up-and-coming musicians for new additions and adaptations of the jazz repertoire.

Between the three members, AMP Trio has an extensive repertoire after performing and recording regularly for the past 5 years in many configurations. Each member has released projects of their own and had the opportunity to perform with great jazz musicians like Bob Belden, Tim Hagans, John Riley, Janis Siegel, Jean-Michel Pilc, Amina Figarova, John Raymond, Tim Green and many others.

“The compositions on Three capture the recent stylistic adventures we have each taken through working with different artists including exploring straight ahead in "Blues for Rhineland", hip hop in the reoccurring theme "Community", or something entirely free like “Onwards". The mature interplay between the trio members remains a constant, honed by nearly 5 years of touring and recording together.” -Addison

AMP Trio has toured in the U.S. and Canada, performed at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, the Velvet Note and many clubs the throughout New York Metropolitan area. Their previous albums m(y)our world and Flow have aired on radio internationally and their videos directed by Snarky Puppy videographer, Andy Laviolette have reached tens of thousands of viewers across the globe.
