Cafezz

Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, 1905 Kentucky Ave, Winter Park

Cafêzz is a Puerto Rican based Latin Jazz & World Fusion band. The band's style is very eclectic, embracing a wide array of Caribbean, Brazilian, Latin, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Folk and Classical influences.

Their original music presents an ample melodic content combined with tasty rhythms, giving the listener rich aural textures to enjoy with ease.

Even though it includes elements from jazz, its performance is not focused on individual instrument virtuosity, but relies on the ensemble’s communication and interaction.

The public will enjoy songs like “Sol Boricua”, a tropical mix of “bomba” and “guaracha jíbara”, “El Cafetal” (aguinaldo/funk), “Cortadito” (cuban guajira/blues), “Café Colao” (latin jazz) and other caribbean-blended styles. In contrast, showcasing classical language and form, “Mujer de la Alborada” glimpses into a true Puerto Rican genre, the “Danza Puertorriqueña”, while “Antes que Salga la Luna” and “Waterfalls” combine classical melodies with varied atmospheres. From North America, we include “Mr. Flat Night”, a contemporary jazz swing and “Just 4 Funk”, a bluesy/funky cool groove tune. From South America, “Te Invito un Café” borrows from Brazil’s rich genres such as “samba canção” and, crossing the border into Perú, “Desde mi Balcón” absorbs elements of the classy Peruvian waltz and combines it with quasi-classical melodies.

The band’s diverse repertoire is available on two awarded album releases: “Music & Friends” and “Sol Boricua”, presenting the audience sounds and rhythms from dynamic and vibrant to relaxing and cozy.
