Fans of our Thursday Night Hang series may recognize John from his many appearances at Blue Bamboo. He has been a regular attendee, and once we discovered his amazing talent we eventually invited him to host his own trio.

John has an impressive resume that includes working extensively in the Chicago area with Peggy Lee, Bobby Vinton, Steve Allen, Terry Gibbs, Louis Bellson, Ed Thigpen, Milt Jackson, Cab Calloway, and many others. He also played for the ribbon-cutting of the Grand Bohemian hotel in downtown Orlando, and was a regular performer there.

In John’s playing the influences of masters like Oscar Peterson, Wynton Kelly, and stride proponents like Art Tatum are ever apparent. His technique is dazzling and he is constantly inventive. John will be joined by Doug Mathews on bass and Walt Hubbard on drums for a swinging concert of jazz standards.
