The Flying Horse Big Band is one of the premiere performing ensembles of the UCF Music Department, and is made up of students from the Jazz Studies program. It has appeared at the Montreux, Switzerland, and the North Sea Jazz Festivals, as well as numerous festival and concert appearances domestically.

They have recorded seven albums on UCF's own recording label, Flying Horse Records, and all the albums have been on the national jazz charts.

The group is led by Jeff Rupert (composer, recording artist, freelance tenor saxophonist, and director of the Jazz Studies program at UCF).
