Don Soledad presents “Arte y Pasíon” (Art and Passion) – an evening of flamenco! "Arte y Pasíon" features original compositions from Soledad’s albums, compositions by Michel Camilo, Tomatito, Astor Piazzolla, and Chick Corea, as well as other surprises. Join us on a journey to Southern Spain and beyond.

Featuring Humberto Velez on flute, Justin Seger on percussion, and flamenco dancer Laura Pirela.

Humberto Velez is a lifelong artist born in Puerto Rico. He learned music theory at Universidad de Puerto Rico, where he fell in love with the flute and taught himself how to play it. As an artist he has worked professionally in television, theater, and later on as a photographer/photojournalist for decades. After moving to Florida, he picked up the flute again. Mostly a player by ear, his forte is improvisation and he has a distinctive style with influence of Flamenco, Latin Jazz and Classical music.

Laura Pirela is a Venezuelan architect, dancer, and choreographer. She has more than 30 years of flamenco training and dance studies in Spain Academies (Amor De Dios), Jerez de la Frontera, and in Venezuela by hands of great figures such as María Magdalena, La China, Domingo Ortega, Timo Lozano, María Juncal, Miguel Cañas, Alfonso Loza, Inmaculada Ortega, María del Mar Moreno, Matilde Coral, Javier Latorre, La Truco, Carmen la Talegona, Carmen Garza, La Lupi, and many others.

Guitarist and recording artist Don Soledad has been a mainstay in the US and Florida talent pool since his move from the San Francisco Bay Area. His dedication to the art of flamenco guitar started under the tutelage of flamenco guitar maestros living in the US, as well as in Andalucia, Spain.
