SOLD OUT! CuBop - 4/3/2021

Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, 1905 Kentucky Ave, Winter Park

Celebrating the Latin infused side of the Blue Note catalog, CuBop's origin stems from the fusion of the Afro-Cuban and BeBop sounds of stylistic pioneers Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, and Horace Silver. Since the group's inception in 2015, the CuBop catalog has expanded to cover a wide array of styles in the jazz idiom from Latin-Jazz to Hard Bop and to more progressive avant-garde styles all rooted within the classic quintet and sextet format.

In this program, CuBop explores the sextet sounds of Miles, Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, and Kenny Dorham. With some of the area's top players, CuBop consists of Marco Bojorquez on Bass, John Olearchick on Piano, Jeremy Katalenic on drums, Jevon Falcon on trumpet, Jeremy Fratti on Tenor Sax, and Frank Wosar on Trombone.
