Tianna Hall

Tianna Hall is a Grammy © recognized vocalist based in Houston, Texas and is currently the acting bandleader and singer for The Houston Jazz Band, The Texas Jazz Band, Mighty Pretty Mixtape & The Houston Jazz Band Orchestra.  She has been and continues to be the busiest and most sought after jazz singer and vocalist in Texas, working with the finest instrumentalists in the entire region. 
 

Tianna attended the University of Houston where she majored in Vocal Performance and worked professionally in musical theatre and opera for many years before focusing her craft on vocal jazz. She was then mentored by Duke Ellington Orchestra Pianist Marsha Frazier along with her music director for many years: composer, arranger and jazz pianist Paul English who helped her begin her career in jazz in 2004.

Some recent performance venues include headlining the Candlelight Concert series for Houston with The Houston Jazz Band as a Quintet, The Heights Theater as the opening act for dear friend and jazz legend Jane Monheit, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH, Bayou Bend Collection, Spiegeltent), Minute Maid Park for the Houston Astros, Robertson Stadium for the Houston Dynamo, Jones Hall for the Progressive Forum's presentations of both Garrison Keillor & Frank Rich, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts' Theater District Open House Presentation for the City of Houston, two appearances on the late night Houston Television Variety show for the arts The After Party with Ernie Manouse and two appearances with commentator Eric Ladau on KUHF's 88.7 FM (Houston's NPR affiliate) as well as special presentations by DaCamera - Houston. Teatro Diana of Guadalajara, Mexico as well as numerous other venues throughout Mexico where she performs with The Mexico City Jazz Trio. She also works as a studio session vocalist in every genre for many professional Houston Recording Studios by day. Ms. Hall can often be found gracing the homes and estates of politicians, philanthropists and celebrities across the city of Houston,  the state of Texas, the United States as well as abroad from time to time for private contracted engagements such as intimate dinner parties and grand affairs alike.

She is currently playing regularly at some of Houston's finest venues including Artisans, Plane & Level, Savoir / Patton's Speakeasy, The Rouxpour - Memorial City, The Rouxpour - Baybrook, The House of Blues, Houston Country Club, River Oaks Country Club, The Houstonian, The Lone Star Flight Museum & The Astorian. She has also had steady performance engagements at Cezanne, Finn Hall, Hotel Zaza, Sambuca Jazz Cafe, Crush Wine Lounge, Kirby's, Vic & Anthony's, Hotel Sorella, Bistro Alex, Acadian Coast, Marmo, La Colombe d'or, Leeland House, The Marriott Westchase, The Rainbow Lodge, The Boom Boom Room, Timpano, The Magnolia Hotel, Ouisie's Table, Mascalzone, Eddie V's, Tommy's, Louie's, O'Rourke's, The Tasting Room - River Oaks, The Tasting Room - Uptown Park, Downing Street Pub, Hotel Icon, Solea, The Grove, The Glade, Discovery Green, MKT Bar, The Four Seasons Hotel, The St. Regis Hotel, The Westin Hotel, Hotel Granduca, McCormick & Schmick’s and Brennan’s of Houston along with countless other high end venues throughout the Greater Houston Area.

Her vocals are influenced by artists of many genres including but not limited to Tony Bennett, Jane Monheit, Frank Sinatra, Nancy LaMott, Ella Fitzgerald, Eva Cassidy, Kurt Elling, Sarah Vaughan, Michael Buble, KD Lang, Karen Carpenter, Anne Murry, Nancy Wilson, Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, Annie Lennox & many others.

Tianna has seven recordings under her belt: 2020’s release and her first live recording: Tianna Hall & The Houston Jazz Band - Live, with audio & video recorded live in concert at The Kawai Piano Gallery of Houston by Tan Truong's Westside Studio with Guitarist Greg Petito, Pianist Ted Wenglinski, Bassist Andrew Gordon & Drummer Sam Knight with an intimate audience; 2007's - Tianna Hall & The Mexico City Jazz Trio - Lost In The Stars; 2010's - Tianna Hall & Danny McKnight - Ballads & Bossas;  her 3rd album released on Blue Bamboo Music in 2011 - Tianna Hall - Never Let Me Go; her 4th album, Two For The Road (another collaboration with the Mexico City Jazz Trio) released in August of 2012; her holiday album with Guitarist Chris Cortez titled Noel released in November of 2013;  Hit Me With a Hot Note, her 6th album and the 5th to be Grammy recognized, is a collaboration with guitarist Paul Chester, bassist David Craig, the late Drummer Sebastian Whittaker, Trumpet Dennis Dotson & Saxophonist Warren Sneed. It was produced at Wire Road Studios of Houston with acclaimed audio engineer Andy Bradley at the helm.
